City aiming to restore water to large parts of Hout Bay

Residents of Hout Bay are notified that the City is working as quickly as possible to restore water supply after planned works hit complications this weekend. While the City was replacing damaged valves, a pipe burst occurred. Additional resources have been deployed to assist with the repairs and it is estimated that the water supply will be restored at approximately 20:00 today. Read more below:
Areas without water are Lower Mount Rhodes, the vicinity of Park Road, Hangberg, Hout Bay Heights, Bayview Heights, Imizamo Yethu, Mandela Park, Suikerbossie and Llandudno. Consumers in these areas are kindly requested to keep their taps closed to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the water supply is restored.
The City’s Water and Sanitation team is working around the clock to effect the repairs and also monitoring the reservoir levels supplying these areas.
Residents in Hout Bay who are not currently affected by the water supply disruption are requested to urgently reduce their consumption to reduce the strain on the currently stressed water supply to the area.
Water tankers and standpipes
- Water tankers are stationed in Harbour Road (by Skipper Bar), on the corner of Hout Bay Main Road and Andrews Road (by the Shell Garage) and on the corner of Hout Bay Main Road and Mandela Road. Another is roaming through Hangberg to provide water for domestic use during the repairs.
- Water standpipes have also been placed outside Number 2 Mount Rhodes Drive and at the top section of Mount Rhodes Drive between Numbers 68 and 70.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the patience of the consumers while it endeavours to complete the repairs and restore the water supply to the affected areas.
